About us

Small groups, big nature experiences

Nature gives us room to breathe, explore, and unwind from a busy everyday life. I want to give more people the chance to experience this, in Rogaland's beautiful mountains and nature, through safe, sustainable tours in small groups.

Reviews

What guests are saying

This section is ready and waiting — drop in real reviews once you have a few.

“Add a quote about how a hike felt — the details are what people trust.”

“Add a second review here. Short and specific works better than long and general.”

“A third one rounds it out nicely. Ask happy guests for a line or two after their visit.”

Accessibility

Hikes that meet you where you are

Before guiding hikes, Lena spent years working as a kindergarten teacher, and holds further specialized training in special needs education — she's well equipped to guide people with a wide range of abilities and needs, not just experienced hikers.

Please tell us about any special needs — physical, sensory, cognitive, or otherwise — when you book. That's what lets us adjust the route, pace, and group size in advance, so the hike stays safe and enjoyable for everyone.

FAQ

Good to know before you book

The questions people usually ask before their first hike.

Do I need experience for the hikes?

No previous hiking experience needed. Routes are chosen for a comfortable pace, and the group only goes as fast as its slowest member.

What should I bring?

Sturdy shoes, a layer for wind, and water are the essentials for a hike — a full packing list is sent after booking.

What happens if the weather turns bad?

As the Norwegian saying goes: “there's no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing.” Hikes may be rescheduled if conditions look unsafe — if so, you'll hear from us the evening before with a decision.

What fitness level do I need for a hike?

If you can comfortably walk for a couple of hours, you're ready. Each hike lists its distance and elevation ahead of time so you know what to expect.

Do you follow Leave No Trace principles?

Always. We pack out everything we bring in, stay on marked trails, and keep groups small so the impact stays light — these trails need to stay wild for whoever comes after us.

Booking policy

Cancellation, refunds & deposits

A few clear terms so there are no surprises for either of us. Ask if anything below isn't clear before you book.

Is a deposit required?

Yes — a 20% deposit holds your spot once we've confirmed availability by email, with the rest due before the day of your hike. We'll send payment details (bank transfer or Vipps) in our reply to your booking request; the form on this site doesn't take payment directly.

What if I need to cancel?

Cancel 7 or more days before your hike and your deposit is fully refunded. Cancel 3–6 days before and we'll refund half. Inside 48 hours of the start time, or for a no-show, the deposit isn't refundable — by then we've usually turned other guests away to hold your spot.

What happens if you cancel or reschedule?

If we cancel or postpone — most often for unsafe weather, see the FAQ above — you'll always get a full refund or a free move to a new date, whichever you'd rather have. That applies no matter how much notice we're able to give.

Can I change my booking instead of cancelling it?

Usually, yes. Ask as early as you can and we'll do our best to move you to a different date or hike at no extra cost, space allowing.

How do I cancel or change a booking?

Reply to your booking confirmation email, or write to us directly, as soon as you know. We'll confirm your refund or new date in writing.

Safety & responsibility

Guided with care, at your own risk

Lena is an experienced mountain hiker who has spent years on these trails in every season. Every hike is planned and led responsibly — route, pace, and group size are chosen with safety as the top priority, and conditions are watched closely before and during the hike.

That said, hiking in mountain terrain always carries some risk — weather can change quickly, and no trail is completely risk-free. By joining a hike, you do so at your own risk; Rogaland Mountain Trails and Lena Forus accept no liability for injury, illness, accident, or loss that may occur during a hike, however carefully it's planned and guided.
